While many British independents are churning out films about bank robbers or drug related down to earth gritty and contemporary subjects. This site announces that at least one production team in the heart of England are mad enough to join together three periods of history and produce a film that is just err…fun to watch. The family time travel film The Ring and the Seal has within its narrative a cast of hundreds, battles, duels, elaborate costumes, children, animals, special effects galore, some wry humour from its broadly painted characters.
The Ring and the Seal is the first of a slate of projects that is near to completion. Others are at various stages of development by the creative team of Director / Editor Phil Brown and Writer Producer Garry Skerrett.
The Ring and the Seal will hopefully hit the market early 2002 and will be carried in the wake of the biggest movie trilogy of the decade (Lord of the Rings) and providing enough private investment can be found to finance the projects completion in time will have its potential sales returns dramatically increased. The project already has a written interest from one US video distributor and will be taken when the film is completed. The Producer is seeking any investment contribution in return for shares in the projects performance at market and the obligatory credits and other benefits of being involved with a movie.
Anyone interested in either the film's progress or completion,
and distribution can contact the producer via the Email address on this site. Please watch the 4 minute rough-cut trailer below to get a feel of the project.
Says Producer Garry Skerrett
The Ring and the Seal was very much a labour of love from the incredible team we have established in the UK Midlands. The recent audience screening brought us 100% thumbs up which gave us all the encouragement we need. This same team will go on to work its magic with a slate of three exciting and very different films over the next few years providing finance can be raised. Giving first time directors a chance to show what they can do is vital to Garry, as was the case with Tom Lauten (The Ring and the Seal) who left his usual role as one of the top effects people in the world to not only direct the film but also make his acting debut as the hero time traveller John Potter.
